Kylian van Alphen (°26 December 2001, Lommel, Belgium) is a Belgian multimedia designer and animation student whose work moves between animation, motion design, photography, video and digital visual communication. Currently studying Audiovisual Arts with a specialization in Animation Film at LUCA School of Arts in Brussels, he develops projects that combine storytelling, atmosphere and technology into visually engaging experiences.
Growing up with a strong interest in both creativity and technology, Van Alphen gradually developed a multidisciplinary approach to audiovisual media. His background in Multimedia & Creative Technologies at Erasmus Hogeschool Brussel, where he graduated with distinction and received the Audience Award for Best Final Work in 2024, strengthened his interest in combining technical workflows with artistic experimentation. Earlier studies in Industrial ICT further shaped his fascination with digital systems and interactive media.
Alongside his studies, Kylian runs his freelance business, VA-Media Productions, where he works on photography, design, drone media, and video production for clients and organizations. Through collaborations with organizations such as Special Olympics Belgium and Fire Department North Limburg, he gained experience in professional visual communication while continuing to develop his own creative identity. His work often balances clean digital aesthetics with movement, rhythm and emotion, focusing on how visuals can inform, immerse and connect people.
Van Alphen is particularly interested in the relationship between motion and atmosphere. Whether working in animation, motion graphics or video, he approaches projects as opportunities to translate ideas and emotions into accessible visual experiences. He enjoys exploring new techniques and workflows, often moving between different disciplines to discover how image, sound and movement can strengthen one another.
As a young maker within the audiovisual arts, van Alphen continues to expand his practice through experimentation, collaboration and personal projects. His ambition is to create meaningful visual work that combines creativity, storytelling and innovation across multiple forms of digital media.
